After Super Bowl LVI, Kevin O'Connell, is expected to leave his post as the Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator and take the head coaching gig with the Minnesota Vikings. O'Connell will get the chance to work with a litany of current ad former Pro Bowlers in Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen.

Minnesota was unable to put together an elite offense with those playmakers, which was partly the reason why O'Connell was hired. Jefferson, who wasn't afraid to voice his disapproval with the Vikings' offense last season, talked about how happy he is to have an offensive-minded head coach. He also took a subliminal shot at his former coach.

Former Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, indeed, has a long history working with defenses, spending 14 years as a defensive coordinator for three NFL teams before becoming Minnesota's head coach. Zimmer wasn't the play-caller for the Vikings last year — offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was — but having a head coach run the offense should allow it to run smoother. That is especially the case when the coach has experience working under Sean McVay.

Jefferson's production has been otherworldly these past two seasons, especially considering he was just in his first two seasons in the NFL. Cook has also been a stellar backfield threat yet Minnesota. Still, it hasn't been enough to clinch a playoff berth.

Ironically, Zimmer was able to make above-average offenses in his final two seasons with the Vikings. It was the defense that failed to execute well and tanked the team's playoff hopes.
