The Minnesota Vikings came out as the winners of the Kirk Cousins Sweepstakes this offseason. Now the Vikings are looking to potentially make another splash in free agency.

Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson has been making his rounds as one of the biggest names on the market. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Minnesota is using every resource at its disposal to convince Richardson to sign with them:

Sheldon Richardson remains in Minnesota and is getting the stadium tour, etc., today, sources tell RapSheet and me. Picked up by GM in jet, had lunch with Kirk Cousins and others in owners’ suite yesterday … Vikings would like to close him, if the price is right.

Cousins had largely been on the other side of the recruiting process this  NFL offseason after a number of star players throughout the league had made their pitch. Now he is the one hoping to lure other star players to the Vikings, and for good reason.

Richardson got off to a promising start in his career after being taken by the New York Jets with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Following a stellar rookie campaign, he made the Pro Bowl in just his second season with the Jets. Unfortunately, disciplinary issues within the team ultimately forced his rade to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and a 2018 second-round pick.

However, Richardson is coming off the worst year of his career after registering just 44 tackles and a sack in 15 games. That said, the Vikings are hoping a fresh start with their formidable defense could be just what the big man needs to get back to his Pro Bowl form.
