The Minnesota Vikings are uncertain what the future will hold in terms of Kirk Cousins being the team's franchise quarterback. While the team deciphers whether to give him a new contract or not, Cousins isn't focused on a contract extension with Minnesota, per ESPN's Courtney Cronin.

Last week, the Vikings were able to upset the New Orleans Saints on the road due to Cousins' late-game heroics. After defeating the Saints, there was some newfound momentum for Minnesota as they advanced in the postseason.

But just a week later, Cousins and the Vikings ran into an immovable object that was the San Francisco 49ers. The Vikings would end up losing the game by the score of 27-10. As the game was coming to a close, many began placing the blame of the loss on the Vikings' quarterback.

In the game, Cousins completed 21 of his 29 attempts for 172 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Aside from a 41-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs, Minnesota's offense was essentially nonexistent.

When you are paid a handsome amount of money, you're expected to be able to perform well in the toughest environments. For yet another season, a team led by Cousins fell short despite having a talented roster.

Heading into the offseason, Cousins is set to play the final year of the three-year, $84 million contract that he signed in 2017. Next year, Cousins is set to have a $31 million cap hit and is still one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

After Saturday's loss, Mike Zimmer assured everyone that Cousins would be back with the team in 2020. However, in terms of being with the team beyond 2020, Zimmer was hesitant to answer any questions about his future.
