Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer led his team to victory this past weekend while hitting the road and taking down the surging New Orleans Saints. Now, a matchup between the Vikings and top-seeded San Francisco 49ers sits on the immediate horizon with Minnesota once again forced to serve as the road team.

As a result, it is safe to say that Zimmer and company understand exactly what is at stake against the 49ers.

“It is,” Zimmer recently told reporters when asked how tough the turnaround is, logistically, via NBC Sports Pro Football Talk. “I’m not saying it’s not. It’s similar to playing a Monday night game and then you have to get ready for a Sunday game. Obviously, we’re going out to the West Coast, so that’ll be a little bit different, but, hey, it’s playoff time. It’s big boy football now.”

The Vikings finished the 2019-20 regular season as the No. 6 seed in the NFC, which led Zimmer's squad to New Orleans to battle it out with the No. 3 seeded Saints. In quite the impressive fashion, the Vikings won the game in overtime en route to sending future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, and the Saints home empty-handed yet again.

A lot of the guys that are here were here before, and so I feel like they’re a veteran team, they understand,” Zimmer added, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk. “We actually had a couple of guys saying, ‘Hey, calm down’ in the locker room. We got to get ready to go play again. So I’m hopeful that it’s like that.”

The Vikings and 49ers will square off on Saturday afternoon in San Francisco.
