Because of the Warner Media-Discovery merger, WBIE is reportedly selling some of its studios. But are NetherRealm and TT Games actually included?

In March, AT&T announced the $43 billion deal to spin off WarnerMedia and merge it with Discovery. The goal was to create a “premier, standalone global entertainment company” aimed to compete with networks like Netflix and Disney+.

In the course of the merger, some parts of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment would apparently be sold off. However, WBIE did not specify details about which parts would stay, and which would go.

Jez Corden, a Senior Editor for Windows Central, has reportedly seen documents that mention WBIE is considering selling off both NetherRealm Studios and TT Games. Studios best known for the Mortal Kombat and the Lego titles, respectively. Because apparently, WB wants to focus on bigger franchises that have potential ties to films and other large-scale products.

“My guess would be that Warner Bros. wasn’t happy with the performance of the Mortal Kombat movie, They weren’t happy with the performance of the Lego movies,” Corden said.

On his podcast, The Xbox Two, Corden stated that he saw internal documents that mentioned NetherRealm and TT Games were among the studios that WBIE could be selling.

Remi Sklar from Warner Bros. Games contacted TheGamer in response to the rumors. The WBIE rep told TheGamer that it simply wasn't true confirming that NetherRealm Studios and TT Games will continue to remain a part of WBIE.

Rumors are just rumors at the end of the day. Thankfully, NetherRealm and TT Games are still in the safe hands of WBIE.
