After more than a year on the sidelines, James Wiseman is finally making his return to action for the Golden State Warriors. The 7-foot big man himself confirmed that he intends to suit up on Sunday when the Dubs take on the San Antonio Spurs in NBA Summer League.

Wiseman was understandably hyped when he confirmed his availability for the Warriors on Sunday:

“I cannot wait to go out there and just play the game of basketball again. I’ve been through a lot of tough times,” he said, via Madeline Kenney of the Bay Area News Group.

Wiseman has indeed been through quite a lot on his road to recovery. The former second overall pick was forced to sit out the entirety of the 2021-22 season after suffering a couple of setbacks in his rehab. Wiseman has been dealing with a major injury to his right knee. The 21-year-old underwent two surgeries and he has since been on the path to recovery.

Wiseman has been ramping up his activity of late, and there has been a lot of talk about his impending return. We now finally have a confirmed date for his much-awaited comeback, and at this point, Sunday could not come any sooner.

As a rookie, Wiseman played 39 games for the Warriors during the 2020-21 season before his campaign was cut short due to injury. During that span, the former Memphis standout averaged 11.5 points on 51.9 percent shooting and 5.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game. This young man could be a key piece for the Warriors' title defense this coming season.
