The Golden State Warriors seemingly have mastered the way of collecting NBA titles with ease, as they now have three Larry O’Brien’s since 2015. That said, Warriors big man David West recently revealed that the road towards their latest championship was not as smooth as what it looked like to most people, saying that the team had to deal with issues people would be shocked to know.

Steve Kerr was asked about West’s mildly surprising comments, but the Warriors’ head coach simply insinuated that that kind of issues naturally occurs in a team that has had a ton of success over a short period of time, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“I don’t know if anything would really blow your mind but it was a difficult season, and there were lots of moments where it became more difficult. I didn’t know if it’s anything unusual given the state of our team, and what we’ve been through. Nothing to me was that much shocking but we went through some stuff.”

At the end of the day, the Warriors were crowned as the newest NBA champions – again – after an impressive sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 NBA Finals. Whatever baggage the Warriors had heading into the playoffs or into the finals were simply thrown outside of the window once they accomplished the goal of repeating as league champions.

If anything, West’s revelation only helps underscores the idea that it takes more than talent and a stacked team to win a title, but also composure to deal with internal rifts.
