Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been impressed by the play of shooting guard Damion Lee, who has become one of the team's lone bright spots this season.

With Golden State struggling mightily in 2019-20, it appears as though Kerr and the Warriors are already looking toward to the future. Lee, obviously, is in the long-term plans of the once heralded Western Conference franchise.

As a result, Kerr recently elaborated on the decision to give Lee a multi-year contract extension, which is currently in the process of being finalized.

“Damion has played really well for us the last couple of seasons,” Steve Kerr said after the team's Tuesday installment of practice, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “He’s somebody who belongs in the NBA. I know nothing’s official, but we’re working on a contract going forward with him.

“I’m happy for him, if we can get this done. I’m happy that he’s finally getting some stability in his own career because he’s had to fight for everything the last couple of years.”

The 27-year-old Damion Lee is now in the midst of his third NBA season overall, the last two of which have come as a member of the Warriors.

Prior to arriving in the Bay Area ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, Lee suited up for the Atlanta Hawks as a rookie back in 2017-18. Having his best professional campaign to date in 2019-20, the veteran shooting guard is averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 24 games, 11 starts and 26.4 minutes per outing.

The Warriors have the worst record in the Western Conference this season.
