The Golden State Warriors finished the 2019-20 season with the worst record in the NBA before games were suspended in March due to the coronavirus.
As a result of their terrible record, the Warriors got the second overall pick in the 2020 draft. It's a great opportunity for general manager Bob Myers to draft a talented youngster to pair alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins.
With the 2020 draft about a month away, fans are starting to get a sense of who the Warriors like and don't like. According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Dubs will likely take Anthony Edwards at No. 2 should the Minnesota Timberwolves pass on him at No. 1.
The Warriors are believed to view Edwards as someone who can blossom into a face of a franchise and multi-time All-Star if put in the right situation. According to league sources, Golden State would likely take Edwards at No. 2 should Minnesota pass on him at No. 1.
Edwards compared himself to Dwyane Wade during his pro day with Klutch Sports. The Warriors, should the Timberwolves pass on the Georgia guard, would love to get Edwards in their system next to Curry and Thompson and develop him into an All-Star.
The Dubs will be back in the championship picture next season with Curry, Thompson, Green and Wiggins leading the way. It's going to be fascinating to see who the Warriors select in the draft, but odds are Myers and head coach Steve Kerr will make the proper pick since their combined basketball acumen is off the charts.
