Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant suffered what had to be the most devastating moment of his NBA career on Monday night, as Durant sustained what is believed to be a torn Achilles in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

Tiger Woods may not be a basketball player, but he is no stranger to injuries, and he expressed his thoughts on the situation on Tuesday:

“It was sad. As athletes, we’ve all been there, when you know something just went,” said Woods, according to Ron Kroichick of The San Francisco Chronicle. “You could see it in Kevin’s face, how solemn he was. It’s an awful feeling. No one can help you.”

Durant originally suffered a strained calf during Game 5 of the Warriors' second-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets. He would miss Game 6 of that series and was then sidelined throughout Golden State's four-game sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals.

There was much discussion as to when Durant would return in the finals against the Toronto Raptors, if he would return at all. He ultimately missed the first four games of the series as the Warriors fell behind 3-1, but he decided to give it a go in Game 5.

Durant looked great early on, scoring 11 points in the first quarter as Golden State had its best offensive quarter of the series, but in the second period, Durant went to put a move on Serge Ibaka and then crumpled to the floor while holding his right Achilles.

The Warriors would go on to win Game 5 to force a Game 6 on Thursday night.
