Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo had a simple message for his former standout Draymond Green — stop crying about foul calls.

The Golden State Warriors engine had his longtime mentor and now lifetime friend give him some of his signature no-nonsense advice, after watching the Warriors take down the Denver Nuggets by 19 on Saturday.

“In the nicest way he possibly could today, he told me ‘what are you doing? crying after every call. You're worried about the wrong thing',” said Green after the win. “I appreciate him for being nice, like in the nicest way he could possibly say it, but it means a lot to me.”

Draymond Green noted his coach had made the sacrifice to fly out to Denver to see him and fellow Spartan Gary Harris, skipping on a huge potential recruitment opportunity in order to be there for his former players, as he's been known to do throughout the years.

“It's special, he's a special guy,” Green said. “I'm thankful for having him in my life, he's done so much for me — as a man, as a player. He's done a lot for me and still does.”

Tom Izzo can at times be the outside perspective to put things into focus for Green, who has had his share of technical fouls and consequent ejections to start the young season.
