Training camp is right around the corner and it should be exciting to see how the Washington Football Team handles it. This franchise made the playoffs last year as the seventh seed, winning their division with a 7-9 record. Washington has a rather stacked roster outside of the quarterback position, so they have a chance to make another playoff run in 2021.

The defense is incredibly loaded and should finish as one of the best in the league. The front office has brought in a ton of new faces on the offense which should lead to big improvements next year. Washington will need the best roster possible if they hope to make another playoff appearance.

They'll have to trim the roster down to 53 players before the start of the season, so we'll be seeing some cuts during training camp. Washing has a talented group of athletes along with solid depth. It'll be intriguing who Washington decides to release in the coming months, as the coaching staff aims to have the best roster going into the 2021 season. With that said, here are three cut candidates on the Washington Football Team's roster bubble entering training camp.

Lamar Miller

A true veteran of the sport, Lamar Miller is still competing for a roster spot in his ninth NFL season. However, Miller is definitely on the back end of his career, as we haven't seen him take meaningful snaps since 2018. He seems to be a veteran the young running backs can learn from in training camp, but it'll be difficult for Miller to carve out a role on this team.

Antonio Gibson is on the path to become the workhorse running back in Washington, while JD McKissic and Peyton Barber serve as the backups. Many are rooting for Jaret Patterson to make the final roster as well, as he's a talented UDFA who many believe could become a solid backup one day. Miller's time is limited, as this could be the final pit stop before hanging it up.

Steve Sims Jr.

This time last year Steve Sims Jr. was thought to become the second-best pass option in Washington. Instead, Sims proved to be unreliable, as he couldn't provide consistency. This left Terry McLaurin to do much of the work himself, which is why the front office acquired some new receivers to the group.

Sims Jr. was outplayed by Cam Sims, who will likely earn a spot on the roster himself. However, with the addition of Curtis Samuel, Adam Humphries, and Dyami Brown, Washington suddenly has a much improved receiving core for the 2021 season. There's a lot of competition in the wide receiver room, and Steve Sims Jr. is possibly the odd man out.

Beau Benzschawel

Entering the third year of his career, Beau Benzschawel will have to impress the Washington Football Team to make the final roster. He's currently the third left guard on the depth chart, which doesn't bode well for his chances. The front office has made some improvements to the offensive line this offseason, increasing the competition in that position.

The starting offensive line is basically set, so Benzschawel will be competing for a backup role. Washington currently has 11 offensive linemen competing for a backup spot, so Benzschawel has his work cut out for him. Simply put, the odds are not in his favor.
