Prior to becoming a star in the NBA, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard made a name for himself at the collegiate level with Weber State.

According to Blazers.com, Lillard's alma mater is set to retire his jersey near the end of this month.

Weber State Athletics will retire the jersey of NBA star Damian Lillard as part of the Weber State Men's Basketball Alumni Classic on August 26.

“It's an honor to have my jersey retired and to join so many great Weber State players that came before me,” Lillard said. “Although my jersey is being retired for the work I put in during my time as a Wildcat, I couldn't have been successful without the support of my coaches, teammates and staff.”

Lillard is also expected to partake in the shooting stars and 3-point contest while also serving as one of the coaches during the alumni game. He spent four seasons at Weber State where he was a two-time Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, three-time All-Big Sky First Team selection, fifth leading scorer in conference history, and earned a Third Team All-American honors.

He finished with 1,934 points while ranking top 10 in 14 different statistical categories. Lillard is also the only player in Big Sky history to receive an All-America team selection. His success at the collegiate level helped him earn the opportunity to be selected with the sixth overall pick by the Blazers in the 2012 NBA Draft.

This is another well-deserved notch under Lillard's belt in his basketball career.
