The Chicago White Sox got things rolling against the New York Yankees at the Field of Dreams Game in the Iowa cornfields on Thursday. Jose Abreu stepped up to the plate in the top of the first inning and did what everybody was hoping for– hit a home run right into the corn!

Seriously, who is going to grab the ball?

The Field of Dreams Game has been talked about for quite some time and has already been a smashing success in every aspect. The fans got what they paid for early on, especially after paying a ton of money to get into the historic contest in Iowa.

Andrew Heaney, who joined the Yankees at the MLB trade deadline, got the nod and the White Sox hopped out in front early thanks to the solo blast, a line drive to left field that just barely grazed the corn.

That is a weird sentence, but this is baseball! Prior to the game, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred mentioned that they hope to return to the Field of Dreams in future years, and just through the first inning things have already been splendid.

Stay tuned, there might be more home runs hit into the cornfields!
