In the Washington Wizards' 141-136 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, Bradley Beal exploded for a career-high 60 points. Every single Wizards fan was ecstatic with Beal's performance except Gilbert Arenas who was holding on to his heels while Beal was inching to his record.

Via Instagram, Arenas admitted that he almost freaked out when he saw that Beal was about to break the Wizards franchise record which he set over a decade ago. It also happened to be Arenas' birthday which placed everything at a higher stake. Note that Beal did greet Arenas in the comments section “Happy Birthday 🐐”

Beal's 60-point output ties the franchise record set by Arenas in 2006. But according to the record books, Beal is the only Wizards player to do so in regulation. Peep the clip below to see highlights of Beal's career night.

Unlike Beal who achieved his career-high in a loss, Arenas did so in a win. And apart from this, he dropped 60 points on none other than Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. Statistics reveal that in the Wizards' 147-141 overtime victory over the Lakers on Dec. 17, 2006, Arenas shot 17-of-32 from the field, 5-of-12 from deep, and 21-of-27 from the free-throw line. As expected, Bryant did not back down and had 45 points.

Safe to say that it was a thrilling birthday for Arenas who had to witness another player inching to his record. But all things considered, Arenas definitely had a better 60-point explosion as he guided his Wizards team to a win, which, at the end of the day, is all that matters.

The Wizards have never made the NBA Finals since they changed their name from the Bullets. Gilbert Arenas wasn't able to change that fact, and Bradley Beal certainly faces an uphill battle. Yet, these two elite scorers are joined in Washington basketball history.
