Washington Wizards point guard Isaiah Thomas has been fined $25,000 for making inappropriate contact with a game official.

The incident occurred on Friday during Washington's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Thomas was ejected 88 seconds into the contest after he pushed the referee.

It's been a tough couple of weeks for Thomas. He received a two-game suspension for entering the stands during the Wizards’ 125-108 loss at the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 21.

Thomas confronted two fans over obscenities and gestures late in the fourth quarter. He apologized to his teammates for the suspension, but the guard still believes he “did the right thing.”

It sure looks like from the video that Thomas didn't mean to make contact with the official. The Wizards guard appeared to be off-balance, but the fine will remain.

Thomas has appeared in 25 games this season for the Wizards. He’s averaging 13.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists while shooting 42.1 percent from the field, 41.5 percent from beyond the arc and 85.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Wizards, after losing to the Blazers, are now 10-24 on the season. They are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Thomas is looking to revive his NBA career with the Wizards. He struggled with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers during the 2017-18 season and fell out of the Denver Nuggets’ playing rotation last season.
