The NBA has released the schedules for the upcoming 2017-18 season that has laid out the nationally televised games for each team.

The Washington Wizards are one of the team's that will get their fair share of games shown nationally with 18 games slated, which equates to around 22 percent of their regular season games receiving that type of attention.

This has caught the eye of All-Star point guard John Wall, who is excited about the increased publicity for his team next season, according to Chase Hughes of CSN Mid Atlantic.

“It's great,” Wall said. “I think we could have had that in the past. We had a heck of a season last year. We fell short of what we wanted to. It just means we're getting the recognition we wanted in the one of the most powerful cities in the world in basketball and sports, period. To have that, with them showing us love having our first game of the season on TV, then having a Christmas game and those types of things, that's what I think our city needs and what we want. It's big for us.”

Wall has been the focal point of helping the Wizards become one of better teams in the league with playoff appearances in three out of the last four years while reaching the Eastern Conference semifinals in each trip.

This is coming off a season where they won 49 games, which is the highest regular season win total since the 1978-79 campaign where they lost in the NBA Finals. The Wizards have become constants in the playoff picture, and that alone deserves more attention thrown their way.

It also helps that Wall has elevated his game to being considered one of the elite point guards in the league and is coming off a career-best campaign averaging a double with 23.1 points and 10.7 assists along with 2.0 steals per game. With the increased national recognition comes an opportunity for the Wizards to truly latch onto a significant spot in the landscape of the league.
