The Washington Wizards' new point guard in Russell Westbrook is about to enter uncharted territories as he joins a new club on the East coast for the upcoming 2020-2021 NBA season. The nine-time All-Star apparently didn't consider the time difference when he hit up his former teammate Ish Smith, calling him up at 1:00 a.m. Eastern Time to talk shop.

“Russ is going to bring the juice and energy. That’s just what Russ does,” Smith said. “It’s funny, I talked to Russ when it first went down. It’s 1 o’clock in the morning y’all, he calls me because it’s a different time in LA, and says ‘Aye Ish wake up man what you doing?’”

“You know what kind of juice we’re going to bring. That’s who Russ is,” he continued via NBC Sports Washington.

Westbrook and Smith were former teammates back with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2014-2015 season where the latter only appeared in 30 games. He didn't get to finish the season with the team as he was eventually traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Latavious Williams along with cash and draft considerations. The backcourt duo gets to reunite in Washington.

Smith continued to bounce off several teams which included short stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons before landing on the Wizards camp last season.

On the other hand, Westbrook is packing his bags for Washington after a one-year stint with the Houston Rockets and found himself heading to the nation's capital after he was involved in a trade that involved John Wall and a 2023 first-round draft pick.

The 2017 NBA MVP's excitement serves as an encouraging sign for the Wizards which shows that he is indeed raring to get started and lead the team back to the playoffs next season.
