WWE superstar Apollo Crews made a shocking return to NXT on Tuesday night. Crews has been on the main roster since 2016, when he was called up from the NXT black and gold brand. Cruise never won a championship in NXT, and it looks as though he might be attempting to change that in 2022.

During a promo segment from NXT champion Bron Breakker, the champion celebrated his victory over rival Joey Gacy before posing who would be the next wrestler to step up against him for the title. Crews' music hit and the crowd let out a thundering roar and chants of “welcome back,” “welcome home,” and “we missed you.”

Apollo Crews' promo revealed he thought he left NXT way too soon back in 2016 and he is here to correct history. However, it did seem that both wrestlers for the moment at least were babyfaces and had mutual respect for one another.

After the promo, Crews tagged with Solo Sikoa to face Grayson Waller and NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes. Crews and Sikoa would pick up the victory as Crews pinned Waller after hitting his finishing move, The Chariot, to secure his first win NXT 2.0.

The NXT 2.0 brand is beginning to see a lot more of the main roster filter into the brand with the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Bobby Roode, and Natalya all recently coming down and working with the younger stars. Crews has always been an extremely solid wrestler and will likely bring out a tremendous match against Breakker.

Hopefully, this is the exact change that Crews needs for his WWE career.
