When Cesaro opted to walk away from WWE when his contract expired back in February, it left more than a few fans wondering what the future would hold for the man born and formerly known professionally as Claudio Castagnoli.

Would he jump ship to AEW and rekindle his long-dormant feud with Eddie Kingston from back in Chikara? Or how about taking his talents to Japan, where a whole new collection of wrestlers, and thus matches, could become a possibility? Could the 41-year-old simply hang up his boots for good, return to his native Switzerland and take up a new career like breeding miniature show dogs?

Well, if manager Max Dupri, who looks an awful lot like LA Knight from NXT, has any sort of sway, Cesaro might be back in a WWE ring before we know it, as he's reportedly been held up in Europe presumably schmoozing with his new client, who is set to debut on Smackdown next week.

Cesaro and Max Dupri as a dream WWE pairing.

What has long been the knock against Cesaro in WWE? Certainly it's not his in-ring work, as “The Swiss Superman” has a very compelling in-ring style that may feature a bit too much swinging for some people's tastes but is without a doubt among the best pure technical work of any in-ring performer employed by WWE today. Or what about his look? Again, unless you have a thing against bald people, which Cesaro very much is, his body is in very good shape for a 41-year-old, and he has no trouble keeping up with wrestlers even half his age in the ring.

No, the biggest knock against Cesaro has long been his perceived lack of a personality, as, apparently, being a world-class in-ring performer from a foreign country isn't enough anymore.

Enter Dupri, who has consistently kept food on his table over the last 20 years with his mouth and mind as much as his in-ring work.

Whether in WWE, NXT, TNA, Impact, or the NWA, Dupri/LA Knight/Eli Drake has been consistently named one of the best talkers in the business by those in the know and had parlayed that on-mic mastery into a manager's role on Smackdown, which some may view as a downgrade but could theoretically be a money angle if Dupri can employ the current client.

Goodness, we have a European wrestler who would benefit greatly from a charismatic mouthpiece and a manager who is currently stuck in Europe looking for a client who can take his new Male Modeling business to the uppercard of Vince McMaun's premier weekly television show.

If this wasn't the plan already, it should be, as it's a time-honored tradition that has achieved that status for a reason.

Need proof? Well, look no further than MVP and Bobby Lashley/Omos. MVP did all of the talking, still got some action in-ring as both a singles and multi-man performer, and could serve as the setup man for a big-time challenger for his client. While Dupri is a much better performer than MVP at this stage in their respective careers, he could fill the same sort of role, as his brief on-screen interactions with Adam Pearce have clearly showcased.

Will Durpi ultimately bring back Cesearo to the Fed and go on a run with the “The Swiss Superman?” Or did someone in the WWE graphics department fail to make the connection between being stuck in Europe and Switzerland being a Europan country? Either way, we will find out soon enough, as Dupri has a segment booked on Smackdown next week.
