In case you haven’t heard, Triple H is officially back in the WWE after an extended absence brought on by his dismissal from the top spot at NXT and the discovery of a heart condition that forced him to officially retire from the ring once and for all. With Vince McMahon replaced by his daughter Stephanie as the company’s CEO and Chairman of the Board, when it comes to Trips, real name Paul Levesque, the real-life husband of Mrs. McMahon, some wonder what the switch could mean for the former 16-time champion’s future.

This speculation grew even stronger back in June, when Levesque declared “I’m Back” while making an appearance and speech at the WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

‘I’m back?’ Does that just mean to work? Or back from the recovery process of his heart condition? Or maybe, just maybe, Triple H was back as in ready to take back over NXT and continue on with some of the storylines he put a ton of effort into developing over the last half-decade-plus.

Unfortunately, the latter option isn’t true, at least not yet, as, according to Dave Meltzer, Levesque remains unaffiliated with the formerly gold and black brand, allowing Mr. McMahon to continue to run wild with storylines of broken skateboards, negative star matches, and performers like Roderick Strong all but begging to be released from their contracts. Could that change in the not-too-distant future? Maybe yes, maybe no, but until that day comes, if it does at all, it’s at least nice to see the H Man back in the business, even if he won’t be entering another war with Tony Khan, this time for the Booker of the Year award, just yet.
