Rosamund Pike can't get enough of magic as she joins the cast of the upcoming magic heist film franchise Now You See Me 3, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pike will be joining the other newcomers Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa and Ariana Greenblatt. The original cast of Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman are expected to return. However, there's a lot of secrecy surround the actress' role.

Will Rosamund Pike be a magician or a villain?

The first Now You See Me film was directed by Louis Leterrier and was released in 2013. The story followed a group of magicians famous for their heist abilities known as the Four Horsemen. The first movie earned $351.7 million worldwide. The sequel released in 2016 and directed by Jon M. Chu, Now You See Me 2, grossed $334.9 million worldwide.

The Four Horsemen didn't originally start out as a group. They were solo magicians: J. Daniel Atlas (Eisenberg) is an illusionist and street magician. He also serves as the de facto leader of the group. Merritt McKinney (Harrelson) is a hypnotist, mentalist and a self-proclaimed psychic. He's also the oldest in the group. Henley Reeves (Fisher) is an escapist and stage magician. She is also Atlas' ex-girlfriend. Jack Wilder (Franco) is the youngest, a sleight of hand artist, street magician and impressionist.

In the second movie, Lula May (Lizzy Caplan) replaced Henley's character. However, in the third film, Fisher will be reprising her role.

In the first film, Ruffalo played FBI agent Dylan Rhodes. In the second, he has resigned from the law enforcement agency and is now the new leader of the Horsemen. Freeman played magic debunker Thaddeus Bradley.

In both films, the Horsemen use their knowledge of magic tricks to perform a heist and an audience. At the end of the first movie, they are introduced to the Eye, a secret society of elite group of magicians who some believe possess real magic. The group perform Robin Hood-esque feats to steal from the rich to give to the poor.

Eisenberg has stated in previous interviews that the films are his “favorite” things in the world to do in terms of work.

“If they could make one of these a year, I could finally wean myself off anti-depressants,” the actor said.

As for returning for a third film, he didn't hesitate, saying, “It was like a vacation because I got to feel good about myself all day on set like the character is. So when I heard that [they're] making a third one, [I was like] please, please!”

Ruben Fleischer, 2018's Venom and 2022's Uncharted director, will helm the movie from a script written by Eric Warren Singer, Seth Grahame-Smith and Mike Lesslie.

Pike was recently nominated for BAFTA and Golden Globe Awards for her role as Elspeth Catton in the hit 2023 movie Saltburn. She also played the sorceress Moiraine Damodred in Prime Video's live-action adaptation of Robert Jordan's best-selling book series The Wheel of Time. Its third season will premiere next year.
