Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees have yet to figure out his compensation for the 2022 season. Extending the three-time All-Star is a hugely important move that New York has to make following a disappointing offseason.

Judge led New York in home runs, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage last season. His hitting is invaluable to the team yet his soon-to-be ending contract remains unresolved. According to AP's Mark Didtler, Judge is optimistic about getting a deal done, as both he and the Yankees want to continue their partnership.

“I think both sides, we want to come to an agreement,” Judge said Wednesday. “I know both filed numbers but that doesn't mean the communication stops. Hopefully, we can continue to communicate and kind of find a number that works for both of us.”

Judge added that he does not enjoy arbitration meetings, which is bad news for him since he and the Yankees seem to be headed there. He asked for a $21 million salary this season and New York offered just $17 million.

“I'm not too happy about arbitration meetings,” Judge said. “I think both sides want to avoid that, go into that room, fight each other a little bit and bring out the boxing gloves, but I'm prepared for that.”

The Yankees trying to get cute with the contract of their best player is doomed to blow up in their faces. Paying Judge is the easiest and most obvious solution. He has been a huge part of the team ever since he got called up
