It's been one heck of a week for Nestor Cortes. He kicked it off by watching the Home Run Derby in Los Angeles. Then the New York Yankees star pitcher was mic'd up during his outing in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game that saw him pitch well. And now Nestor Cortes is engaged, per Talkin' Yanks.

What a journey it has been for Nestor Cortes. The Yankees' southpaw has battled throughout his career and never gave up.

He got his first taste of big league action back in 2018 with the Baltimore Orioles. After just four games, Cortes found himself on the Yankees in 2019. However, things didn't go well for him. He recorded a 5.67 ERA over 33 games out of the bullpen. Cortes then spent 5 games in Seattle with the Mariners in 2020. He labored over those 5 games and his big league future was in question.

But as aforementioned, Nestor Cortes never gave up.

He ended up back on the Yankees in 2021 and pitched to the tune of a 2.90 ERA over 14 starts and 22 total games. And he established himself as an All-Star in 2022 with his current 2.63 ERA.

Cortes has also become a fan-favorite in New York. He is always smiling during games and seems to genuinely enjoy playing the the sport. And now Nestor Cortes is an engaged man.

He will aim to keep pitching well for the Yankees moving forward. New York has legitimate World Series aspirations this season and he is certainly going to play a big role in their 2022 postseason run.
