The last decade has been a rough one for both the Milwaukee Bucks and its fans.

Despite the talented rosters they've had the recent years, the Deers have managed to advance to the Conference Finals only once from the seven times they entered the playoffs since 2001.

Taking that into account, the organization knew that sooner or later the team needed to go into rebuilding mode. That's what happened starting in 2013.

The arrivals of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton in 2013, followed by Jabari Parker and Jason Kidd in 2014, signified the new direction the franchise was heading to. It simultaneously gave birth to a new hope for the future of the team.

Since then, the team has made a lot of adjustments to the roster and the coaching staff, trying to create a young team with the perspective of being champions down the line. Coming to 2016, the Bucks have three stars to count on  (Antetokounmpo, Parker, and Middleton) and a very skilled bench covering their backs when needed.

Furthermore they made some interesting moves during the draft and the offseason, adding to their squad some more young talented players like Thon Maker and Malcom Brogdon, and also some more experienced ones in Jason Terry, Matthew Dellavedova, Steve Novak, and Mirza Teletovic. The addition of some leadership in the team was the finishing shot. Everything was ready. Everyone was excited and the countdown for the start of the new season had already began.

But once more, an unexpected fact silenced all the excitement of the fans. Unfortunately, according to a recent NBA update, the Deers have to give the fight for a spot in the upcoming season's playoffs without Khris Middleton due to a harmstring injury. However, the fact that Middleton is sidelined didn't seem to concern Antetokounmpo and the rest of the team during the media day. The Greek forward argued that at media day:

“His loss was tough for us and we are going to support him. But still are going to make everything possible to achieve our goal.”

And by goal, meaning the 2016 playoffs.

The only thing that's left now is to see what awaits this young team. Nobody can guarantee whether the Bucks are going to be in the elite next year or not. However, what we can take for granted is that Giannis Antetokounmpo and co. are willing to make the difference this year.

They are going to get a shot at the NBA playoffs this season and finally roar to the rest of the league their overshadowed battlecry “Fear the Deer”.
