The Washington Commanders may be forced to move one of their best players this offseason. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin is up for an extension, but the front office doesn't seem totally willing to give him the money he's asking for. This isn't a unique situation, as Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers is in the same predicament. We take a look at the best fits for Terry McLaurin in a potential Commanders trade.

There's a chance that contract talks fall through, which means that McLaurin would become one of the biggest trade targets in the NFL. There would be tons of potential suitors, but here are the two best fits for McLaurin should he not get the extension he wants.

Best Destinations For Terry McLaurin, Commanders Trade

2. The New York Jets

Terry McLaurin would probably be opposed to this trade, but there's a strong possibility that it happens. The New York Jets have been in the market for a receiver all offseason, as they've pursued Samuel, DK Metcalf, and several others. If New York can make this deal happen, McLaurin would walk into their building as the best receiver on the team.

New York is currently set to start Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, and Braxton Berrios at the position. That has to be one of the worst receiving rooms in the league. McLaurin would provide an instant solution to that problem.

While the Jets may not seem like an ideal landing spot, they have the money to make themselves appealing. They still have $17 million in available cap space heading into the draft. New York certainly has the money to give McLaurin the extension he both wants and deserves. That could be enough for McLaurin to advocate for a trade to the Jets. Additionally, they have multiple assets the Commanders would love to have.

1. The Indianapolis Colts

This is easily the best landing spot for McLaurin. It's a match made in heaven for both sides. The Indianapolis Colts are in desperate need of a real receiver, as entering the season with Michael Pittman, TY Hilton, and Parris Campbell as the starters is a recipe for disaster.

The Colts just made a huge trade for quarterback Matt Ryan, but they desperately need people for him to throw to. Terry McLaurin is arguably a top-ten wide receiver in the NFL, and he would certainly be the best pass-catcher in Indianapolis. He also possesses a different skill set than Pittman and Hilton, so he would fit right in with the group. Additionally, the Commanders might be able to improve their roster with a trade with Indianapolis.

The Colts are one of the few teams in the league that can actually afford to pay McLaurin. They were shockingly quiet in free agency, perhaps in hopes that a situation like this one would arise. Indianapolis still has $13 million in cap space lying around, which is more than enough to hammer out a big-money extension for McLaurin. The star receiver is only 26 years old and he's played fantastic football throughout his career, so the Colts shouldn't have any reservations about paying him.
