The Detroit Lions will be double-dipping in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, giving them an opportunity to reel in some serious talent on a rebuilding roster. It'll be interesting to see what this team does with the 32nd pick overall. They could go in almost any direction to strengthen their chances in the NFC North.

Although the offense could use a little help, the Lions might want to consider taking a defensive player in the upcoming NFL Draft. The front office could aim to stack up the secondary or defensive line and set themselves up with a sturdy defense moving forward.

If the Lions can manage to select two defensive prospects in the first round, they'll be well on their way to improving that side of the ball immediately. We'll see how it plays out, but Detroit can make some serious noise late in the first round this offseason.

With that said, here are the three best fits for the Lions' 32nd overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Lions 2022 NFL Draft

3. Kaiir Elam

Kaiir Elam is being viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in this class. Detroit has some exciting players within this position group already, as they hope Jeff Okudah can stay healthy. Adding Elam could give the Lions a legitimate cornerback duo, helping the defense improve overall.

At 6-2, 191 pounds, Elam is capable of defending anybody in the league. He has the potential to become a superstar in the NFL but does need some time to develop accordingly. Look for Dan Campbell to give Kaiir Elam the attention he needs if the exciting prospect lands with the Lions.

2. Jaquan Brisker

Another route the Lions could go is safety. Detroit doesn't have the best safety's in the world, but they can fix that issue by taking Jaquan Brisker 32nd overall. The former Penn State Nittany Lion could maintain the same mascot in April, as he's a stellar athlete that would fit well with this franchise.

Brisker is an aggressive safety who can help the Lions in stuffing the run or stopping the pass. Detroit struggled with both of those areas last season, so adding someone like Jaquan Brisker could be the difference-maker in 2022. If he's available at the final pick of the first round, don't be shocked to see the front office pull the trigger and bring him onto the roster.

1. Devonte Wyatt

The Loins have a chance to take one of the best defensive line prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft and they could double-dip at that position if they select a pass rusher second overall. Devonte Wyatt is another outstanding defensive player for the Georgia Bulldogs and would be a tremendous prospect for Detroit. Selecting Wyatt 32nd overall would allow this franchise to build the trenches on the defensive side of the ball.

Football is a sport won in the trenches and the Lions could set themselves up for incredible success down the road if they choose Devonte Wyatt. He's capable of playing inside and bullying opposing guards, making him a great run-stopper for Detroit if they choose to take him in the NFL Draft.
