Many believe the Indianapolis Colts are the favorites in the AFC South this year and for good reason. After acquiring Matt Ryan via trade, the franchise is making its third attempt at utilizing a veteran quarterback to lead the way. Although Ryan is a shell of his former self, he still has some juice left to make some noise. However, if this team hopes to beat out the Tennessee Titans, they'll need all hands on deck. For that reason, we look at three potential breakout players on the Colts for the 2022 season.

The passing game is going to be the main concern for this roster. Matt Ryan will likely be just fine, however, the lack of weapons is concerning. Even so, there are a few potential breakout players on the roster who could help the Colts throughout the season. If they can do that, then Johnathan Taylor's life will be much easier while he attempts to carry Indianapolis to the playoffs.

This offense would greatly benefit from three players on the roster stepping up their game. Although the tight end position is lackluster, the Colts may have a talented option for Matt Ryan. Meanwhile, left tackle is nothing to gloat about either, but a rookie may prove to be a hidden gem. Lastly, Indianapolis will be feeding a certain wide receiver often this year.

With that said, here are three potential breakout players on the Colts for the 2022 season.

Colts Breakout Players For The 2022 NFL Season

3. Mo Alie-Cox

He's been in the league for a hot minute, but Mo Alie-Cox is finally getting his chance to be the starting tight end. He has flashed potential sporadically throughout his career and now has a chance to make some noise with Matt Ryan under center. Alie-Cox is ultra-athletic, which bodes well for his chances in the upcoming season.

After spending multiple years as the backup in Indianapolis, Mo Alie-Cox has the chance of a lifetime. Even though the Colts drafted Jelani Woods, who is an exciting prospect in his own right, Alie-Cox has the tools and the talent to retain the starting job for quite some time. Keep an eye on him this season, as he has all of the potential in the world to become a viable pass option for this offense.

2. Bernhard Raimann

It might take some time, but Bernhard Raimann could be a solid contributor during his rookie year. It's more likely he spends a year on the bench as a rotational piece for the offensive line. However, considering the current starting left tackle is nothing to brag about, Raimann could end up winning the starting job in training camp. If he does, then watch out as he can be the missing piece the Colts need within the trenches.

1. Michael Pittman Jr.

Michael Pittman Jr. is set up to be a legitimate star for Indianapolis. It's been a while since this team has had a star receiver, as TY Hilton's play noticeably declined the last few years. Regardless, Pittman is the exact type of player the Colts need to be successful, as he is very clearly the best pass option on this offense.

He proved to be a reliable target for Carson Wentz last year and likely improved his game throughout the offseason. Michael Pittman Jr. is in a prime situation, as he is the obvious number one target while also having an improvement at the quarterback position. Keep an eye on him, as the Colts are likely to throw his way often in the 2022 season.
