Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers recently agreed to a historic contract extension. Bosa was previously holding out, so questions arose as to whether or not he'd be ready for Week 1. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan dropped a Bosa update that bodes well ahead of Week 1.

“He looked exactly how we were expecting him to look. Looks in real good shape. Looks ready to go,” Shanahan said of Bosa.

The update itself isn't eye-popping by any means. But if Bosa “looks in real good shape” and is “ready to go,” the 49ers' defense will certainly benefit. He didn't get paid by mistake, as we are talking about a true difference-maker on the field. As long as San Francisco's offense performs well enough, Nick Bosa and the 49ers defense will take care of the rest.

49ers: Nick Bosa “ready to go”

Bosa, 25, has been in the NFL since 2019. He immediately established himself as a threat on defense, winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. After missing most of 2020, Bosa performed at an elite level in both 2021 and 2022.

He recorded 15.5 sacks during the 2021 campaign to go along with a league-leading 21 tackles for loss. He took a step forward in 2022 and finished with a league-leading 18.5 sacks. Bosa added 51 combined takes, 41 solo tackles, and 19 tackles for loss. His 2022 effort led to his first ever Defensive Player of the Year award.

Bosa's been a Pro Bowler in each full season he's appeared in. Aside from the possibility of injuries, there's nothing to suggest he will slow down in 2023. The 49ers star is in his prime and “ready to go” after getting paid a lucrative amount of money.
