It has been quite a field day for the San Francisco 49ers so far in their season opener against the Detroit Lions. And now, 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel just blew the game open with one highlight-reel touchdown.

On a key third down play, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo elected to target Samuel out on the right side of the field. In what looked to be a simple first down completion, Samuel wound up fooling Detroit Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah as he took it all the way for a 79-yard receiving touchdown.

The Lions secondary had no chance to catch Samuel in the open field. And for the third-year receiver, it is quite impressive on just how he managed to create separation away from Okudah and speed on by for what is arguably the most impressive reception of his career.

Whether it will be under Garoppolo or Trey Lance this season, they both sure can count on Samuel in key plays.

After an underwhelming campaign last year where he missed time due to injury, Samuel is a candidate to have the first breakout campaign of his career. The San Francisco wideout has the potential to post his first campaign with at least 1,000 receiving yards recorded over this season.
