San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance will enter his first NFL campaign with high expectations. But this early, he's already impressed his teammates, particularly star wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

Amiable 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan shared that Samuel recently talked to him about their outlook for the upcoming season and he only had good things to say about the 21-year-old Lance (via Heavy).

“But Deebo Samuel comes up to me at one point, and he’s like, ‘This guy’s got some balls.’ And I think that’s what the guys feel. He goes out there and he’s not scared to fail. He goes out there and lets it rip, and there’s some good, some bad. Players can feel it. When you’re not scared to fail and you’re talented, you do things the right way, guys believe it’s a matter of time.”

That should only boost the confidence of Lance even more. Having Samuel already on your side will only make his transition to the NFL easier. The third overall pick out of North Dakota State will have to grow up quickly if he wants to help lead the 49ers back to the top.

Shanahan said Lance is a student of the game. All of them were given iPads to study film and Lance has already registered the most minutes watched out of all 90 players of the 49ers.

Veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is still expected to start for the 49ers, but perhaps, judging Deebo Samuel's pronouncement, it could just be a matter of time for Trey Lance to grab the key.
