The Green Bay Packers recently escaped New Orleans with a 37-30 victory over the Saints in Week 3 proceedings. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers continued his stellar play with the help of a mostly-empty Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

“It’s a lot different environment than in 2008 and 2014,” he said. “This place is rocking all the time. I think we all miss that in the sport, just the fan interaction, the energy of the crowd. But it definitely helps us out in an environment like this.”

The Saints have been known by many to have one of the biggest home-field advantages in the NFL. However, this season is unlike any other as the crowd sizes will be controlled due to the coronavirus pandemic. There were only 750 friends and family of the team, along with the low hum of piped-in noise present in the game versus the Packers.

It wasn't just Rodgers either. Sophomore linebacker Ty Summers chimed in on how the lack of crowd noise was especially helpful for the Packers' cause. He played his first snaps of defense and had to slot in the position after veteran linebacker Christian Kirksey was injured.

“It definitely made the communication process significantly easier and if any of y’all ever have a chance to ever hear the speakers, those things are hard to hear if it’s completely quiet or if it’s loud,” he said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “It’s crazy static-y and all that. So, it’s definitely a benefit that there isn’t crowds there for that reason. Of course, it would be nice to have people there yelling and screaming and that energy, but one thing I will say is that I feel we as a team have done a great job of bringing that energy, bringing our own juice, as we like to say. And it’s translating into the way we’ve played.”

The two-time NFL MVP led the Packers offense with 283 passing yards on 21-of-32 attempts along with three passing touchdowns. Summers had a valuable impact as well after he tallied 6 total tackles in the game.

After avoiding a loss to a tough opponent, the Packers managed to preserve their immaculate record and will aim to replicate the same success this time against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4's Monday Night Football.
