Mitchell Trubisky probably shouldn't get too comfortable in the Windy City. According to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, the Chicago Bears have talked to the Cincinnati Bengals about Andy Dalton, who almost certainly will not be under center in Cincinnati next season.

Dehner notes that Dalton would provide competition for Trubisky and that his contract would be “digestible” for the Bears considering Trubisky is still on his rookie deal.

The general consensus is that the Bengals will be taking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick in April, which would effectively end Dalton's run in Cincy.

Cincinnati even benched Dalton in favor of Ryan Finley at one point in 2019, but went back to Dalton after three dreadful starts from Finley.

In 13 games this past season, Dalton threw for 3,494 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 59.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 78.3.

Whether or not Dalton is better than, or even as good as, Trubisky at this stage is debatable, but as Dehner notes, at the very least, Dalton would push Trubisky in training camp and throughout the 2020 campaign.

Dalton, who played his collegiate football at TCU, was originally selected by the Bengals in the second round (35th pick overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He was immediately named Cincinnati's starting quarterback during his rookie year and actually made the Pro Bowl right off the bat after throwing for 3,398 yards, 20 touchdowns and 13 picks.

Overall, Dalton has earned three Pro Bowl selections throughout his NFL career, although it's questionable as to whether he truly deserved any of them.
