The Cincinnati Bengals were heavy underdogs in the AFC Championship against the Kansas City Chiefs. Yet, they pulled off a massive upset, beating the Chiefs 27-24 in overtime. Not many people gave the Bengals much of a chance to win this game. Even Cincinnati fans knew it was going to be an uphill battle. But that’s what makes the victory that much sweeter, as you can tell from this Bengals fan.

After Cincinnati rookie kicker Evan McPherson nailed the game-winning 31-yard field goal, this Bengals ran attempted to run through a wall.

It is the first time since the 1988-1989 NFL season that the Bengals will appear in the Super Bowl. The franchise reached the Super Bowl twice during that era, losing both games to Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers. 33 years later, they get another shot at a championship.

Clearly, the rabbid fans from Ohio have been waiting a very long time for this. But it has seemingly come out of nowhere. Cincinnati was not supposed to be this good, this quickly. The franchise drafted quarterback Joe Burrow out of LSU prior to the 2020 season. Burrow looked the part until tearing his ACL last season.

But even this was unexpected by just about any football fan. The Bengals were not supposed to make it this far, already. They certainly weren’t supposed to erase a 21-3 deficit in Arrowhead Stadium against the Chiefs. Yet, here we are.

Bengals fans will look for one more celebration. They will face the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI two weeks from Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
