Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Joe Mixon loves the Madden video game franchise, and this year's edition was incredibly special to him.

In an article written by Katherine Terrell of ESPN, Mixon opened up about his infatuation with Madden and the joy he experienced while finally getting to play as himself in the game. According to Terrell, Mixon also admitted that he played as himself on the Bengals for two straight months because he was so excited to actually be part of the Madden.

“It was a blessing seeing myself on Madden. I always dreamed of it, and as soon as the game came out I was one of the first persons to get it early,” Mixon said.

Despite a 17-0 lead late in the second quarter, Cincinnati was unable to fend off the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football and lost to their hated division rival, 23-20.

Mixon, who was having a very solid game with seven carries for 34 yards rushing, had to exit the late in the second quarter on the first play of Cincinnati's 15-play touchdown drive. The rookie running back out of the University of Oklahoma was taken to the locker room after the play and was put in concussion protocol, which ended his night early.

Last week, against the lowly Cleveland Browns, Mixon had the best game of his young NFL career when he 114 yards rushing on 23 carries and one touchdown on the ground.

“You catch a groove and once you get to feeling it, everything else will take care of itself,” Mixon said last week. “The line was blocking their ass off and the receivers doing the same thing. We all got committed to running downhill and that's what we did. At the end of the day, everything took care of itself. We all bought in and it was just amazing.”

Depending on if he passes concussion protocol this week, Mixon should be questionable for the Bengals' Week 14 game against the Chicago Bears (3-9) on Sunday afternoon.
