It was a phenomenal season for the Tennessee Titans that was cut too short. Between Todd Downing's horrific play calling and Tennessee's turnover troubles, the team imploded on itself in the playoffs. Regardless, the roster is in a great position and doesn't need that much improvement to remain competitive next year. We take a look at the biggest Titans team need heading into the 2022 NFL offseason.

Although the front office has done a great job at stacking the roster, some areas still need some improvement. The good news is, it's a small number of needs the Titans must address. With the defense locked in, Tennessee will likely focus on improving the offense in the offseason.

Tennessee will make most of their impact through the NFL Draft. However, there will be a handful of players in free agency that could be valuable to this team. However, only one position stands out as a must for the Titans to fulfill, as it was a blatant weakness throughout the year. Look for the front office to make some massive changes to the tight end group.

With that said, here is the biggest Titans team need heading into the 2022 NFL offseason.

Biggest Titans Team Need in 2022 NFL Offseason

Address The Tight End Position

After letting Jonnu Smith walk in free agency last year, the Titans failed to find a suitable replacement. Anthony Firkser is much more of a possession receiver and works better as a depth piece. It was a noticeable weakness in Tennessee's offense, as the tight end group didn't have any stand-out players all year long.

Considering how much Ryan Tannehill likes throwing to tight ends, it's time for Tennessee to upgrade the position. If the Titans do it right, they should be able to improve the tight end group, thus improving the offense overall. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out, but don't be shocked if the front office gets aggressive in their search this year.

There aren't too many exciting names available in free agency and it's hard to imagine the Titans make a big trade for a superstar player. Even so, Tennessee will have some decent options available during the free agency period. Two tight ends that stand out the most are OJ Howard and David Njoku.

Neither player has impressed much throughout their careers so far, but a change of scenery could be the trick. Considering how well Delanie Walker played for this organization, it might be worth the risk to bring in either Howard or Njoku. Both have made massive improvements in blocking while still having the pass-catching skills needed to thrive in the tight end position.

Bringing in either OJ Howard or David Njoku would be a step up for the Titans. However, where the team can really make some noise is in the NFL Draft. There seems to be a plethora of exciting tight ends entering the league this year and it would be shocking if Tennessee didn't select one of them.

With the Titans likely searching for pass catchers and youth for the offensive line, an exciting rookie tight end would be a dream draft selection for this franchise. Pairing him up with a veteran like Howard or Njoku will give Tennessee a completely new look for their offense.

The Titans will likely maintain the core of the roster while making a massive overhaul on the tight end group. Additionally, it would be nice to see the franchise select an exciting receiver in the draft as well. If the front office can manage that, the 2022 NFL offseason should be considered a success for Tennessee.
