14-year veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin is considering coming back to the NFL just a couple months after retiring, but he doesn't want to play for the Buffalo Bills.

The franchise signed Boldin in August, and just two weeks later, he decided to hang up his cleats, saying, “I think, for me, there's something bigger than football at this point.” With the season now approaching its midpoint, it appears Boldin has changed his stance, getting the itch to play once again.

However, he wants to play somewhere other than Buffalo. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Boldin's agent Tom Condon reached out to the Bills and asked for permission to find a trade destination for his client. Schefter posted a screenshot of the letter Buffalo sent back, granting Condon and Boldin just that.

“Please allow this letter to confirm that Club grants you limited permission to speak with other NFL teams for the sole purpose of discussing a trade for Anquan. This letter of permission shall not be construed as a grant to allow the player to make visits, undergo a physical or tryout with other NFL teams at this time. In addition, player and/or his representative shall not be permitted to discuss a new contract for Anquan with another NFL team.”

(The “Club” is the Buffalo Bills.)

Boldin didn't receive a ton of interest in the offseason, but a team in the playoff hunt in need of a receiver might be willing to give up a late-round draft pick to acquire him.

The three-time Pro Bowler holds the record for the most receptions in a rookie season with 101, and he is also the fastest player in NFL history to record 300, 400, and 500 career receptions.
