The Buffalo Bills just whooped the Kansas City Chiefs on their home field. There are no ifs or buts about it.

However, one Bills hero might not be getting the credit he deserves. Despite never tossing a pass or even taking the field, Josh Allen's backup quarterback in Mitchell Trubisky played a huge role in helping them contain Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Via Bills reporter Chris Brown:

“Micah Hyde gives credit to Mitchell Trubisky for giving them good looks posing as Mahomes on scout team. ‘He was running all over the place. Isaiah McKenzie helped us out too along with some other guys. They really helped us prepare. Shout out to them.'”

Mitchell Trubisky is no ordinary backup, after serving as a full-time starter for the Chicago Bears over the last four seasons and even garnering a Pro Bowl appearance in 2018. He's obviously no Patrick Mahomes, but he's plenty capable of helping the Bills defense simulate facing off against a quality starter.

The reps clearly paid off. Patrick Mahomes had an abnormally bad QB rating of 48.2 for the evening, including two costly interceptions that ensured their defeat. But after losing to the Chiefs in the playoffs last season, Josh Allen clearly isn't resting on his laurels after a regular season victory.

“I think this is gonna be made a bigger deal than it is,” said the Bills QB. “Four wins doesn't make it in the playoffs.”

The Buffalo Bills have the Super Bowl in mind. Beating the Chiefs who ousted them previously is a huge step towards their goal.
