A foot injury has kept Tyler Kroft sidelined with the Buffalo Bills since OTAs earlier this offseason. After making his return to the team, Kroft left Thursday's practice with an ankle injury.

The fifth-year tight end missed the first two games of the season due to his injured foot. Kroft was a full participant in practice, but since it's later in the week it's likely he will be out against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The Bengals know more than anyone about the issues that Kroft has had with injuries. Furthermore, the 26-year-old tight end began his career in Cincinnati and spent his first four seasons with them. In his first four seasons with the Bengals, Kroft missed 13 games due to injuries.

Among his injuries, the versatile tight end broke his foot and missed 11 games with the Bengals in 2018. With the Bengals, Kroft accumulated 67 receptions, 661 yards, and eight touchdowns. His best season came in 2017 when he had 42 catches for 404 yards and seven touchdowns.

That season, Kroft started in all 16 games for the Bengals with Tyler Eifert being out for the entire season.

This offseason, Buffalo added Kroft in hopes he could become a viable starter in their offense. During his absence, Dawson Knox, Lee Smith, and Tommy Sweeney have shared the tight end duties.

Besides Kroft, the Bills are dealing with injuries to rookie Devin Singletary and cornerback Taron Johnson. Frank Gore also missed practice on Thursday, but it was just a rest day for the 36-year-old rusher. Currently, Gore is in line to be the starter on Sunday.
