The Portland Trail Blazers have hardly had the greatest success against the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs bounced Portland in both the 2016 and 2017 playoffs, with Portland winning just one game over those two series.

Then there was the ā€œbeefā€ between C.J. McCollum and Kevin Durant ā€œbeefā€ that escalated when Durant appeared on McCollum's podcast last summer.

After it was announced that DeMarcus Cousins was signing with the Warriors, McCollum was also barking on Twitter about how he would never join a ā€œsuper team,ā€ which sparked an infamous interaction in which a fan named Jennifer Williams told him to ā€œwin a playoff game then talk.ā€

In turn, McCollum humorously responded with ā€œI'm trying Jennifer.ā€ He was asked about the tweet again after the Trail Blazers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Williams herself actually sent out a congratulatory tweet after the Trail Blazers beat the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

Coincidentally enough, McCollum would be matched up against the Warriors yet again. And in a moment destined for Internet fame, McCollum actually met Jennifer Williams prior to Game 2 of the series:

McCollum was instrumental in Portland's Game 7 win in Denver, scoring 37 points and hitting the go-ahead jumper down the stretch.

But in Game 1 in Oakland, McCollum looked out of sorts. He shot just 7 of 19 from the field, and registered a plus-minus of -20, the worst margin of any player that took the floor in Game 1.

Perhaps Williams will serve as a good luck charm for McCollum as the Trail Blazers hope to even the series in Game 2.
