Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic suffered a horrific leg injury on Monday, where results confirmed after that he had sustained compound fractures to his left tibia and fibula.

Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard, who was also present when Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George suffered a similar injury in 2014, said that seeing this happen to his friend and teammate made him sick to his stomach.

Likewise, C.J. McCollum, who has been out of the Blazers lineup with a knee strain, also offered his best wishes to the Bosnian Beast on Instagram.

McCollum has missed the past two weeks for Portland after he went down awkwardly on his leg in a game against the San Antonio Spurs. The Blazers announced earlier that he will be out for their upcoming four-game road trip to continue on his rehab.

The injury to Nurkic permanently puts a major dent into their playoff run. The big man was having a monster game when he suffered his gruesome fate. He finished with 32 points and 16 rebounds in the double overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

These injuries could not have come at a worse time for Portland. The playoffs are about to start in a couple of weeks. With McCollum still recovering from his injury, and with Nurkic ruled out for the rest of the year, the Blazers will have to dig deep. More so, All-NBA guard Damian Lillard will have to shoulder an even heavier load as he tries to keep the team afloat heading into the playoffs.

Portland officially booked their ticket to the post-season with the win on Monday night. But it almost seems like the loss of Nurkic has already prematurely ended their season.

Playoff implications aside, you never want to see anything like that happen to anybody, especially to someone like Nurkic, who has been having a career year this season. This obviously goes way beyond their playoff run this year. Hopefully, Nurkic can bounce back and return better than ever.
