Damian Lillard is one of the most underrated stars in the NBA and has been for years. Playing for the Portland Trail Blazers is not an extremely flashy position for the star point guard to be in, but despite all of the rumors about him possibly wanting to head elsewhere, he continues showing allegiance to the city of Portland.

According to an interview shared by Forbes, Lillard is happy in Portland and the front office believes that he is very dedicated to remaining in the city that drafted him.

Portland general manager Neil Olshey talked about Lillard and the commitment that he has to the Blazers.

“Dame is not a guy who abandons ship early in May when the playoffs are over. He’s got his family here, he lives here full time. He’s here 12 months out of the year.”

Lillard also doubled down on his love for the city of Portland with comments of his own.

“My family is happy here. I’m happy with my situation here.”

Finally, fans in Portland can breathe a sigh of relief. It has been a busy offseason full of rumors, with quite a few of them surrounding potential trade destinations for Lillard. Perhaps the most intriguing destination was the Los Angeles Lakers, who would likely be very intrigued by the possibility of pairing Lillard and LeBron James long-term.

Last season with the Blazers, Lillard put together one of the best all-around seasons of his career. He averaged 26.9 points per game to go along with 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds. Lillard connected on 43.9 percent of his overall shot attempts and 36.1 percent of his 3-point shots.

There is no question that Lillard is the face of the Trail Blazers' franchise. Keeping him there as long as possible should be the main priority. It appears that Lillard is happy and content to stick with the Blazers as well.

Expect to continue hearing trade rumors about Lillard moving forward. That being said, at this point in time, it does not appear that he is going anywhere anytime soon.
