Carmelo Anthony made his debut for the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans. Head coach Terry Stotts shared his thoughts, particularly on his observation of Anthony during morning shootaround, per Marc J. Spears of ESPN.

The Pelicans spoiled Anthony's first NBA game in over a year, 115-104. His first basket was his signature 3-pointer which displayed his immaculate form. He finished with 10 points and four rebounds in 23 minutes of action. He was 4-of-14 from the field, 2-of-3 from deep, and had five turnovers.

This is his first game as a Blazer. Earlier this week, the team signed him to a one-year non-guaranteed deal. It puts an end to Anthony's long wait for a new home.

Over the summer, basketball fanatics clamored over the fact that Anthony — regarded as one of the most potent scorers of all-time — has yet to find a team while other less-skilled free agents were able to snag lucrative contracts.

Anthony's first game back has garnered mixed reactions thus far. But one thing's for certain, we should allow Anthony to play more games and minutes before coming to a conclusion. If, at any, his debut donning the Blazers uniform shows that he still has that smooth stroke. Whether or not he has the capacity to perform consistently and help the team is a matter of wait and see.
