Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson is sending his infamous pearl necklace to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein reported that Pederson will wear the necklace to the parade this Friday. Following that, they will be sent to Cooperstown, New York.

The pearl necklace had become a talking point in late September when Joc Pederson began wearing it. Ironically, during Game 3 of the World Series, the necklace snapped. Despite not playing, Pederson still had an impact. Travis d'Arnaud used Pederson's bat to hit a solo home run in the 8th inning of a 2-0 victory.

The Braves finished off the favored Houston Astros in Game 6 of the World Series Tuesday night, 7-0. It was the first World Series championship for Atlanta since 1995.

The Braves were still under .500 at the start of August before going on a tear to finish the season. It was quite the improbable run. A string of pearls, a wine club made of players and coaches, and a group called “The Burgundy Boys” helped keep this team together. That culminated in reaching the pinnacle of the sport.

Baseball is a different sport than the rest. It is the longest season in American professional sports. The daily grind of a 162-game season is daunting. Time after time we see that it is not the best team that wins the World Series, but the team playing the best at the right time. This year it was the Atlanta Braves and one of the rallying points for this team was the necklace that will live forever in Braves lore.
