Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Antonio Callaway has found himself in a bit of hot water for some off the field issues that arose over this past weekend.

Callaway was involved in an incident that saw him be pulled over the possession of marijuana while driving with a suspended license while being found with a gun strap and several rounds of ammunition. Despite this pending situation in court, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com is reporting that the Florida product will play in Thursday's preseason opener against the New York Giants.

What may be allowing for Callaway to take the field is that it is still a pending situation around him that the Browns have firm belief that the 21-year-old didn't do anything wrong. He has stuck firm to his story that the marijuana had already been in the car prior to getting the vehicle along with his license being currently valid and that he stayed clean.

It is a fluid matter that much still needs to be sorted that has allowed for him to be in the position to play in the team's first preseason game. The only troubling part of this situation for him is that he didn't inform the Browns that he had been pulled this past weekend as the Browns had found at the beginning of practice on Tuesday after it was reported. This had put him in a more tough spot where it looked bad on him for not telling the team about it.

There is still much that could come about this as it will first have to get resolved through the legal system in court first before either the Browns or league take any possible action concerning punishment for the incident. Until then, Callaway should continue to remain involved with the team on the field in training camp and the preseason.
