The Cleveland Browns continue their search for a new head coach, and it sounds like current New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is not among the list of candidates at this point.

There have already been plenty of rumors surrounding who will and won't be interviewed by the Browns, and it was reported on Tuesday that former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase would not be among the group.

It also appears that McDaniels isn't set for an interview with a franchise at this time, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:

The Browns also have not requested permission to interview Canton-area native and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who’s been high on their list in previous searches. The Packers and Bengals have requested permission to interview McDaniels.

As mentioned in the report, McDaniels is already a target for the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals, which is no surprise given his success with the Patriots.

He was set to take the head coaching job with the Indianapolis Colts last season before changing his mind and returning to New England.

Of course, his previous stop as a head coach didn't go all that well, as he was fired by the Denver Broncos a little over halfway through his second season with the team.

The Browns will certainly be looking to get things right with this hire, with Cleveland taking a huge step forward this season behind rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield.

And, with a franchise quarterback in place, that should have plenty of potential candidates interested in pursuing the job.
