The coronavirus has caused teams to hesitate to make announcements on free agents due to the impending physicals for the players, but the Cleveland Browns aren't waiting. On Monday afternoon, Cleveland officially signed Karl Joseph.

Earlier in free agency, the Browns inked Joseph to a one-year deal. This was after he spent his first four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. Joseph, a former first-round pick, ended his 2019 season on injured reserve following a foot injury he suffered later in the season.

Therefore, Joseph's physical was expected to be the deciding factor on whether or not he joined the Browns. On the contrary, Cleveland is comfortable making Joseph's deal official for the 2020 season.

With the departure of Damarious Randall in free agency, Joseph should get a chance to start with the Browns. Ironically enough, Randall is going to get an opportunity to replace Joseph in Las Vegas.

Over the course of his first four seasons, Joseph played in 49 games for the Raiders. In those 49 games, the West Virginia product contributed 236 tackles, 15 pass breakups, and four interceptions. But his inconsistent play on the field and his injury woes caused the Raiders to part ways with him.

Besides Joseph, the Browns also signed Andrew Sendejo to bolster their secondary. Sendejo comes from the Minnesota Vikings, where Kevin Stefanski was the offensive coordinator.

For other teams, they wouldn't be comfortable signing Joseph to a contract until he went through with a physical. Nevertheless, the Browns are content with Joseph signing on the dotted line before seeing how he's doing health-wise.
