New Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens is entering training camp confident in his group of players and liking team building.

Kitchens, who was with Cleveland in 2018, too, as the running backs coach and later offensive coordinator, was hired as the full-time head coach in January earlier this year. He admitted the team isn't fully complete yet, but that it's a hard-playing bunch.

From Matthew Florjancic in NBC affiliate WKYC:

“I like this team,” Kitchens said. “I like it when a team cares about each other. I like it when a team compete against each other very, very hard, and then, they pick each other up and pat each other on the tail and do it again the next play.

“We are not totally there yet, but we are going to get there. I think these guys are committed to getting there. If we get there, we will have a chance, but that only just gives us a chance. That is all it does. I think these guys are going to do that. They are committed to doing that.”

The 44-year-old Kitchens has a team headlined on offense by former first-overall 2018 NFL Draft selection Baker Mayfield at quarterback and the blockbuster trade acquisition of three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants. Kitchens previously coached for Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals teams before coming over to Cleveland.

Kitchens also told the media “They have done nothing but work their tail off, done everything we have asked them to do, and I expect it to continue,” during his first training camp as an NFL head coach.
