The Cleveland Browns entered the 2019 season as a team with Super Bowl aspirations. They brought in all-world receiver Odell Beckham Jr., bolstered their pass rush, saw Baker Mayfield break records as a rookie quarterback and committed to a promising offensive mind in Freddie Kitchens.

Then, everything fell apart.

Highlighting the Browns' demise to a 6-10 team was Kitchens' offense, which hardly looked as dynamic as hoped. Instead, Cleveland sputtered out of the gate and never rebounded.

Kitchens is still slated to be the head coach for 2020, though that could obviously change in the coming days. But for now, he has a message for Browns fans for 2020 after finishing the season with a loss to the lowly Cincinnati Bengals:

“I don’t know that anybody thought that I’m a finished product. Let’s keep building on what we’re doing,” Kitchens said, via 92.3 The Fan.

Kitchens just finished his first season as head coach. Last season, he acted as the interim offensive coordinator after Cleveland parted ways with Hue Jackson. He wasn't a finished product then, and the 2019 season showed that.

All too often, the talented Browns offense struggled. Why is that? Perhaps it was due to poor offensive line play and Mayfield's regression. Perhaps it was due to play-calling that hardly resembled the mastery people expected out of Kitchens.

Now, the Browns aren't going to the playoffs. They are the only team of the decade that didn't visit the postseason. Cleveland will surely enter the offseason with its fair share of decisions to make, and we'll see if Freddie Kitchens returns as head coach.
