Cleveland Browns cornerback Greedy Williams may have fallen in the 2019 NFL Draft more than he expected. Regardless, it is clear that the Browns are still enamored with what he brings to the table.

Williams enjoyed a stellar career at LSU. According to Nate Ulrich of the Beacon Journal, his former coach Dave Aranda knows that Cleveland is getting quite the competitor.

“He’s got an alpha mentality,” he said of Williams.

Aranda specifically recalls watching practice with then Tigers coach Les Miles in 2016, as Williams went toe to toe with future NFL receiver D.J. Chark and Malachi Dupree.

“He’s just calling those guys out, getting right up in their faces and matching them,” Aranda said. “There was just no fear. He looked like a little skinny kid getting it done. When I think of Greedy, I go back to that because that’s the kind of fighter that’s in there.”

It is encouraging to see what there is no backing down in Williams. This sort of competitive nature certainly goes a long way at the next level. There will be no shortage of talent for him to go up against now that he is in the NFL. Fortunately, his days at LSU has prepared him for what is to come.

Greedy Williams had been projected as a first-round talent throughout the draft process. That was before rumors started to surface that teams were concerned about his tackling ability in college. As a result, he slid out of the first round before the Browns traded up to take him with the 46th overall pick.

Cleveland has managed to shore up a solid core of young talent on defense. Williams will have an opportunity to etch out an immediate role in the 2019 NFL season.
